About PSRAC
In 2000, a grass-roots coalition of business people and educators organized the S.C. Registered Apprenticeship Roundtable (SCRAR) to address the lack of a formal, structured delivery system for registered apprenticeships in South Carolina. The mission of this non-profit was to promote, develop and implement registered apprenticeship training opportunities by means of partnerships and collaborative efforts throughout all segments of the South Carolina economy.
In 2004, the S.C. Workforce Investment Board funded a SCRAR initiative within the Upstate WIB creating a Registered Apprenticeship Demonstration Project. This effort successfully established the state's first regional registered apprenticeship delivery system.
In 2005, SCRAR became a 501(c)(3) and subsequently changed its name to the Palmetto State Registered Apprenticeship Council.
